IDF, AC hold first SEIP program

SEIP_grp_picADFIAP’s Institute of Development Finance (IDF) and ADFIAP Consulting (AC) held its joint seminar-workshop on “Sustainable Enterprise Innovation Program” (SEIP) on July 8-12, 2013 in Manila, Philippines. Eleven (11) officers of ADFIAP members from Malaysia and the Philippines attended the program.

SEIP is a new program offering which offers three (3) value propositions, namely: innovation – which allows the participants to think creatively in developing new programs, products and services or enhancing existing ones for the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector; results-oriented – by enabling the participants to strategize and actualize business initiatives by completing a project proposal framework and sustainability reporting roadmap as back-home-action program; and a holistic approach – by teaching the participants the strategic business planning methods, core business operations and sustainable management action to ensure sustainability of proposed programs or projects. An added feature of the program is the creation of an online campus via the ANEX portal, ADFIAP’s Network and Education Exchange platform which provides participants an access to the course content, submit their homework, post messages and download presentations at any given time.

SEIP also introduced a new methodology wherein each interactive lecture was followed by a workshop that enabled the participants to apply their learnings and build their project proposal up and presented to a panel as the culminating output of the program. Awards were given to the top 3 project proposals voted on by the participants themselves and the panel based on content, innovation and implementability. Special awards were also given to 2 most promising project proposals that promoted financial inclusion. The top 3 proposals were “Establishment of Dedicated Retail Financing and Development Team at Regional Centers” by Mr. Ab Halim Bin Suid of SME Development Bank Berhad, “Automated Billing and Collection System” by Mr. Allan Bisnar of Land Bank of the Philippines Negros Oriental Center and “Financing and Technical Support for the Establishment of Mobile Collection System for Micro-Agri Finance Cooperatives” by Mr. Eulalio Lagapa Jr. of Land Bank of the Philippines Tacloban Lending Center and the 2 most promising proposals were those of “Financing Programme for Internet Marketers Value Chain” by Mr. Nik Mohd Adzlan Nik Adnan of SME Development Bank Berhad and “Mobile Banking to Boost Access to Credit” by Ms. Emma Ethel Gatchalian of Land Bank of the Philippines Isabela Lending Center.

The workshops were facilitated by seasoned trainers who provided one-on-one mentoring and coaching to ensure that the project proposals highlighted unique value propositions that were implementable and sustainable. ADFIAP will forward the project proposals of the participants to their respective institutions for possible implementation as their new initiatives or product offerings.

ADFIAP’s Sr. Executive for Programs, Ms. Sandra Honrado, gave the welcome remarks to the participants and briefed them on the activities of the Association. The resource persons of the seminar were the members of the ADFIAP Consulting (AC) Group led by Ms. Cora Conde, Group Head, Atty. Alberto Reyno, Managing Partner, Ms. Arlene Orencia, Head for Project and Programs, Ms. Cecille Ibarra, Head for Advocacy and Training Unit, Ms. Cristy Aquino, Head for Business Development, and Mr. Enrique Florencio, ADFIAP’s Knowledge Management Unit Head and Sustainability Officer.
