Brief Profile of the Bank
Sabah Development Bank Berhad (SDBB) was incorporated on August
9, 1977 under the name of Bank Pembangunan Sabah as a public limited company
under the Companies Act 1965. The following year, it changed its official
name to the present Sabah Development Bank Berhad. It was granted with specific
consent from the Federal Ministry of Finance to use the word 'Bank' in its
name. As a Development Financial Institution (DFI) wholly-owned by the State
Government of Sabah, SDB makes available a wide range of financial and non-financial
services in order to foster a strong and healthy corporate participation
in the economic growth of Sabah in particular and Malaysia as a whole. SDB
embraces the idea of enhancing entrepreneurial and corporate development
to provide economic dynamism and growth, particularly in Sabah.
