ADFIAP, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Development Bank of Turkey (DBT), conducted a seminar on “Infrastructure Project Preparation, Structuring and Financing” as a prelude to the 35th ADFIAP Annual Meetings held in Istanbul, Turkey. The event, attended by over 40 participants from ADFIAP DFI-members and Turkish regional development agencies, was held on April 24, 2012 at the Titanic Port Hotel Barkikoy Istanbul.
The seminar was aimed at providing a framework for infrastructure project development and to promote public-private partnerships. The topics and toolkits presented during this seminar included: (i) legal considerations for private investments in public projects; (ii) environmental and social impact assessment; (iii) public-private partnership in Turkey; and (iv) introduction to NIIS (National Infrastructure Information Systems) – an electronic toolkit that facilitates project structuring, improves project quality, and facilitates marketing and presentation to investors.
The speakers who shared their views and insights included: Mr. Andrew Petry, Partner, Addleshaw Goddard; Ms. Tatyana Petrova, Principal Consultant, ESIA and Environmental Economics Haskoning UK, Ltd; Asso. Prof. Dr. Ugur Emek of the Ministry of Development of Turkey, Ms. Funda Ocak, Deputy General Manager of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority and Mr. Joseph Lufkin, Executive Director, IFCL and ADB Consultant. Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, ADFIAP Secretary General, opened the seminar.
