In line with its advocacy and outreach program on small and medium enterprise (SME) development to its community and stakeholders, ADFIAP has conducted two concurrent learning sessions on SME development and finance for the local chamber of commerce (CCI) and university students in northern Cyprus in the periphery of the 34th ADFIAP Annual Meetings held there in the city of Kyrenia.
The session on finance was attended by 25 participants from CCI and ADFIAP members and was chaired by Dr. Ahmet Aker, Associate Professor of Economics of the Cyprus International University. The speakers who shared their expertise and experiences on the subject included Mr. Edgardo F. Garcia, Chief Operating Officer of the Development Bank of the Philippines; Dr. Sailendra Narain, Chairman of the Centre for SME Growth and Development Finance, India; and Ms. Truong Thi Kim Anh, Manager, International Relations Department of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The session on entrepreneurship development, on the other hand, was attended by about 30 university graduates and students and was chaired by Datuk Vincent Pung, Chief Executive Officer of the Sabah Credit Corporation of Malaysia. Speakers of this session included Mr. Metin Pehlivan, Deputy Chief Officer of the Development Bank of Turkey; H. E. Son Koun Thor, CEO of the Rural Development Bank of Cambodia; and Puan Hjh Zabidah Ismail, Managing Director of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia.
