On invitation of the Chair of the Senate Committees on Finance, Climate Change and Foreign Relations and the leadership of the Climate Change Commission (CCC), ADFIAP attended the “Multi-stakeholder Consultative Forum on Green Finance” held at the Senate building premises in Pasay City, Metro Manila on August 1, 2017. The programme agenda consisted of a high-level roundtable on green finance in the morning attended by 70 participants and an afternoon session on green finance attended by about 200 participants from government agencies, regulatory bodies, banks, insurance companies, associations, embassies, chambers of industry and the academe. Multilateral development institutions like GCF, IFC, UNDP, UN ESCAP, UNEP and other international development partners were also present in the event.

The Forum is the first in a series of dialogues to be convened as a platform for exchange of knowledge on green banking and finance. In particular, it aims to: (1) take stock of on-going climate finance initiatives in the country and the available international green finance programs (2) promote good practices in and a holistic and integrated approach to green finance and (3) identify priority convergence actions for advancing green finance, including awareness-raising, capacity-building, and policy reform.

Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Committees on Finance, Climate Change and Foreign Relations and Secretary Emmanuel de Guzman, Acting Vice Chairperson and Executive Director of the Climate Change Commission led the discussions during the Forum.
