ADFIAP, Land Bank, Sequa Germany, ECCP hold roundtable on SME green finance

ADFIAP and its member, Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) in cooperation with Sequa gGmbH of Germany and the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP, held a roundtable attended by ADFIAP member-development banks as well as commercial banks on “Greening SMEs and Financing Opportunities for Banks” on May 26, 2011 at the Land Bank headquarters in Manila. Sequa and ECCP are both partners of ADFIAP in the EU-funded SMART Cebu project http://www.smartcebuproject.com/ whose objective is to increase the competitiveness of the furniture, fashion accessories, and toys, gifts and house ware industry sectors through energy and material resource efficiency and cleaner production (CP) methods. The project is envisioned to produce a pipeline of small and medium enterprise (SME) projects for bank financing, especially those that have undertaken a full CP audit of their manufacturing facilities.

The event was opened by ADFIAP Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta. Other speakers included Landbank’s Ms. Margarita Cabrera, Team Head of the Wholesale Lending Department, who briefed the participants on the Bank’s lending facility for environmental projects, Sequa’s Program Director and SMART Cebu Project Director, Mr. Thomas Ritter, who introduced the project and ECCP’s Mr. Gerry Constantino who provided insights on other green initiatives of the chamber. Ms. Cora Conde, Group Head of ADFIAP Consulting, was the session moderator for the event.
