The Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption & Production (APRSCP) will hold its 7th Roundtable on April 25-27 in Hanoi, Vietnam to continue the tradition of high quality events after successful roundtables previously held in Bangkok, Brisbane, Manila, Chang Mai, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne. The theme for the 2007 event, “Sustaining Asia Pacific Development”, has been selected to highlight the challenges resulting from current growth patterns and the opportunities this presents to find new ways to grow sustainably. The program will have 4 key sub-themes which encompass the key challenges, i.e., life cycle management strategies, sustainable resource managment, sustainable rural development and industrial and urban development.

The United Nations Environment Programme’s Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) will be holding its first Sustainable Finance Summit in China with the theme “Sustainable Finance and the Chinese Financial Sector”, in collaboration with the People’s Bank of China (PBC), which acts as the Chinese Central Bank on May 16-18 in Beijing, China. This event is an exciting gathering of over 200 senior Chinese delegates, as well as representative from international financial institutions, including bankers, insurers, asset managers, government representatives, and academics. The summit will kick off with a high-level CEO meeting and luncheon on May 16, followed by two days of comprehensive discussions, with particular focus on the different facts of sustainability in the Chinese financial sector.

The UK’s Community Development Finance Association (CDFA) will be holding its Money for Change Conference 2007 on June 20-22 in Ashford, Kent in the United Kingdom with the theme ”Networks for Knowledge”. As well as the usual plenary speakers, technical workshops and interactive sessions, the conference will include all the findings from the transnational project – From Exclusion to Inclusion through Microfinance: Learning From East to West and West to East.

This year’s UNEP FI Global Roundtable will be held in Melbourne, Australia on October 24-25. The event provides an opportunity for bankers, insurers, asset managers and institutional investors from around the globe to discuss new ideas and challenges in the complex arena where finance, insurance, investment and capital markets meet with the sustainability agenda. As ever on the cutting-edge of sustainable finance, this year’s Roundtable will offer panel sessions and in depth debates exploring the issues of: asset management & investment, climate change, insurance, responsible property investment, sustainability management and reporting as well as emerging issues like finance and ecosystems, services/biodiversity, finance and water, finance for environmental utilities and pollution control, financial inclusion and poverty alleviation, and natural resource depletion.
