ADFIAP, RENAC conduct green banking seminar in Manila

renac-adfiapADFIAP and its project partner, Berlin-based Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG, with support from the German International Climate Change Initiative (IKI) and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), conducted the “Green Banking Blended Learning Program: Financing of Photovoltaic & Biogas Projects in the Philippines” on November 23-25, 2016 at the New World Hotel in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines. This certificate course is under the ADFIAP-RENAC partnership project called “Green Banking: Capacity Building on Green Energy and Climate Finance” which was launched on January 26, 2016 in Manila, Philippines and will be completed in 2018.

This 3-day programme, attended by eleven (11) participants from development banks and other financial institutions, covered topics on introduction to climate finance; renewable energy (RE) market overview; fundamentals of RE technologies (introduction to solar biogas); RE market and legal framework (design of the specific country market and legal/institutional framework related to RE technologies); bankability of RE project (project risk mitigation techniques project cash flow planning; cash flow evaluation; project finance; accessibility of international climate funds; introduction RENAC financial model; financial modeling case study and presentation of case studies.

The ADFIAP-RENAC “Green Banking” project aims to support financial institutions in building up new business lines for financing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects and to make use of internationally-provided climate finance instruments. The programme is complementary to RENAC´s CapREG (Capacity Development on Renewable Energy and Grid Integration) project. The project is scholarship-based and offers different kinds of training, both online and face to face (F2F); Green Finance Specialist educational degree; Delegation Tours and B2B Meetings in Germany; and Train-the-Trainer Seminars at RENAC’s Training Centre in Berlin. This multi-country project is scholarship-based for professionals in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
