ADFIAP speaks at climate change adaptation forum

colombo_obpOn invitation by the Ministry of Environment Japan (MOEJ) https://www.env.go.jp/en, ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, attended the 5th Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on October 17-19, 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The event with the theme, “Adapting and Living under 2C: Bridging Gaps in Policy and Practice”, was attended by about 1,000 delegates, around 650 of which are delegates from over 50 countries. It is the flagship event of the Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) https://www.asiapacificadapt.net/ and the primary regional platform for adaptation practitioners to meet, share their learning and experiences, and work together towards outcomes and solutions needed to address the challenges of climate change.

The programme agenda cover a diverse set of topics and were oganized under four major streams: adaptation planning, financing for adaptation, climate resilient development, and multi-actor cross learning. Mr. Peralta was part of a panel of speakers who participated in one of the many parallel sessions entitled, “Enabling Access to Climate Finance: Experiences from the Asia-Pacific Region”. In his presentation, Mr. Peralta highlighted ADFIAP’s work and advocacy on the ‘Greening of DFIs’ which started in year 2002 and continuing as well as presented case studies of the green banking programs and activities of ADFIAP members.
