ADFIAP speaks at DFIs and green energy workshop at Peking University

On invitation by the Global Economic Governance Initiative (GEGI) at Boston University and the Center for New Structural Economics (CNSE) at Peking University, ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, participated in the workshop, “Development Banks and Green Energy: South-South Cooperation for Structural Transformation and Sustainable Development” held on June 7, 2017 at the Peking University in Beijing, China.

The “by invitation only” event was attended by 17 participants from multilateral and national DFIs, associations of DFIs, and the academe. It was convened to examine the extent to which DFIs are becoming catalysts for achieving a climate-friendly and more socially-inclusive world economy and to learn from each other’s experiences.

Among the topics discussed in workshop included how green energy is defined, how are green projects identified, how are these projects evaluated, what financing programs, leveraging, and risk management practices are there for green energy, and what South-South collaboration opportunities are there going forward.

The event convenors will synthesize the discussions, findings, and lessons from the workshop into a policy report that can be shared among participants and the broader development finance community.
