ADFIAP conducts green finance policy framework workshop for Myanmar banks association

ADFIAP, through its business advisory unit, ADFIAP Consulting (AC), successfully conducted a 2-day “Green Finance Policy Framework” workshop for member banks of the Myanmar Banks Association (MBA) on November 26-27, 2018 at the Sedona Hotel in Yangon.

The workshop is an activity under the EU-funded SMART Myanmar 2.0 project. The primary objective of the workshop was to familiarize Myanmar banks on the framework in the development of green lending policies to guide them in the development of green finance policies to be adopted in the implementation of green financing and enable them to expand lending operations directed towards environmental and sustainability finance.

Ms. Julia Dittenhauser, SMART Myanmar 2 Project Director, gave the welcome remarks and Dr. Thaung Han, CEO of Myanmar Citizens Bank and Director of MBA, delivered the opening remarks. AC’s Atty. Alberto Reyno and Ms. Cecilia Ibarra of were the resource speakers and facilitators of the workshop. A total of 85 participants from 28 financial institutions and banks attended the workshop.

The SMART Myanmar 2.0 project http://www.smartmyanmar.org is a 4-year EU-funded project aimed at improving production and increase consumption of sustainably-produced garments from Myanmar through up-scaling and improving on best practice mechanisms developed and implemented during SMART Myanmar 1.0.
