ADFIAP connects F2F with associations worldwide

Upon invitation by IBTM World, ADFIAP participated as a fully-hosted buyer and joined association education programs and face-to-face (F2F) networking activities at the IBTM World expo held from November 19-21, 2019 at the Fira Gran Via, Montjuic 2 Exhibition Centre in Barcelona, Spain.

ADFIAP Consulting (AC) Head, Ms. Corazon D. Conde, represented ADFIAP in the event where she attended full-tailored programs for associations under the “IBTM World Association Programme” where insights and knowledge on subjects of interest and key challenges facing association event organizers were discussed. Among the session topics taken up were: “Doing Business Differently”; “How Will Technology Impact the Way to Plan for the Future”; “Authentic Leadership: 9 Skills the Ultimate Successful Leader Need to Develop”; Achieving Success in a Crisis”; “Developing the Sponsorship Revenue Stream for Long-Term Benefit”; “Creating Events with Impact: Designing Your Event with the Event Narrative Framework”; How Influencer Marketing Can Help to Build Delegate Awareness of Your Event;” and “Preserving the World Through Sustainable Meetings”.

The event covered three days of focused access to professional education programs for associations, knowledge sessions as well as business networks for hosted buyers, MICE suppliers, destinations, technologies, planners and decision makers. It attracted to Barcelona over 15,000 industry professionals, including 300 international Association meetings planners and industry leaders, with an aim of effectively gaining competitive advantage for their businesses and of keeping abreast with the latest developments in the meetings industry.

IBTM World connected associations with thousands of event suppliers and worldwide destinations; held forty (40 ) insightful knowledge sessions and made available the latest event technology to help deliver engaging meetings and events. As part of IBTM’S Association Education Programme, industry leaders shared their experiences with association professionals who attended the sessions for inspiration and insights. The ‘Exploratory Zone’ offered lively interactive experience showcasing the technology of tomorrow right at the heart of the IBTM World show floor. Exhibitors displayed the latest technology to help associations deliver exceptional experiences, including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, facial recognition and 3D printing.

New this year is “Event Business Accelerator” created in partnership with Meeting Professionals International and Barcelona Convention Bureau. It is an investment and mentoring program that will assist young entrepreneurs with an idea, product or service. Networking activities were also held every day to expand business connections amongst the attendees.

Ms. Conde also held meetings with 35 exhibitors and service providers, a good number of which offered financial subsidies and other support services for conventions and congresses held in certain destinations. This development provides an alternative option for ADFIAP in its annual meetings and other events.
