ADFIAP, one of the project partners of the EU-funded Switch Asia project, “SMEs for Accountability, Responsibility and Transparency (SMART) Myanmar 2.0, joined its partners in the annual project review, planning, and budget meeting on November 28-29, 2018 in Yangon, Myanmar. The meeting was organized by sequa of Germany, the project’s lead implementing partner.
Ms. Delphine Brissoneau, the European Union representative based in Myanmar, attended the planning workshop. The other project partners who participated in the planning session are the Foreign Trade Association of German Retailers (AVE), the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA), and project associates, GIZ of Germany, H&M and Lindex.
ADFIAP’s role in the project is to improve access of SMEs to green financing and its work plan for 2019 will focus on the up-scaling of green finance products and services among Myanmar banks, as well as introducing SME green projects for bank financing. A “Green Finance Manual and Green Finance Policy Framework” will be developed to further assist and guide the banks in financing green projects for environmental and sustainable purposes.
The SMART Myanmar 2.0 project http://www.smartmyanmar.org is a 4-year EU-funded project aimed at improving production and increase consumption of sustainably-produced garments from Myanmar through up-scaling and improving on best practice mechanisms developed and implemented during SMART Myanmar 1.0.
