On invitation by the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, attended its 3rd Meeting in Bangkok on August 26-27, 2010, particularly its session on the APEC Financial Inclusion Initiative.

ADFIAP has been tapped to be the project overseer of an undertaking on financial inclusion entitled, “Accelerating Financial Inclusion in Asia and the Pacific: An Operational Dialogue on Innovative Financial Inclusion Policies and Practices” which will put together Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Business Providers and Development Financing Institutions” in a best practice exchange event planned to be held in Washington, D.C. in February 2011.

The ABAC was created by the APEC Economic Leaders in November 1995 to provide advice on the implementation of the Osaka Action Agenda and on other specific business sector priorities, and to respond when the various APEC fora request information about business-related issues or to provide the business perspective on specific areas of cooperation.
