The conference covered a wide range of sustainable finance topics including, among others, innovating banking and finance for a sustainable future, sustainable banking and finance best practice examples from Russia, Pakistan, Nigeria and Malaysia, climate action and financial institutions, the role of financial institutions on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030, and sustainable finance and local government units. The programme also included a visit at the Fraunhofer Institute, one of the largest and most renown applied research facility in Germany and meeting with ‘green’ start-ups.

The conference was also the occasion for the presentation of the Global Sustainable Finance Awards 2016 (please see related story) recognizing outstanding achievements of financial institutions around the world in sustainable project financing, innovative financial services and business sustainability.
