ADFIAP joins and speaks at the COP27 CEFIA side event

ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General Mr. Enrique I. Florencio participated in the CEFIA seminar at the COP27 side event (Japan Pavilion) with the theme “Mobilizing Finance to Facilitate Energy Transition and Decarbonization in ASEAN” on November 9, 2022, at the Japan Pavilion, Tonino Lamborghini Convention Centre, Sharm El Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt.

The event aims to disseminate existing activities and good practices in transition finance widely within the ASEAN region and help the audience understand transition finance in depth taking into account the global trend in transition finance.

Mr. Florencio moderated the session online while the speakers are onsite at the venue.
Speakers were, Mr. Shinichi Kihara, Deputy Director-General for Technology and Environment, Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), Ms. Ayaka Nojiri, Deputy Director for International Affairs (Asia Energy Transition Initiative), Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) (joined online), Mr. Ramesh Subramaniam, Director General, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Ms. Yukimi Shimura, Director of Sustainability Business Division, MUFG Bank, Ltd.

(CEFIA), or Cleaner Energy Future Initiative for ASEAN is an initiative that aims to support energy transition and decarbonization of the ASEAN region. CEFIA was launched by the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) and welcomed by the ASEAN Member States at the 16th ASEAN+3 ministers on energy meeting in September 2019. Under CEFIA, each ASEAN Member State will accelerate its efforts in deploying energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) technologies and renewable energy (RE) technologies through active collaboration between the public and private sectors. CEFIA will conduct a wide variety of activities and will contribute to achieving ASEAN’s energy objectives defined in the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) phase II.
