GSFC 2015 - PhotoADFIAP and its partner, the European Organization for Sustainable Development (EOSD) successfully held the 5th Global Sustainable Finance Conference (GCSF 5) in Karlsruhe, Germany on June 11-12, 2015. Sixty seven delegates from 21 countries around the world attended the event.

The brief opening session featured remarks by ADFIAP Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, EOSD CEO Arshad Rab and Director of Economic Development Office of the City of Karlsruhe, Mr. Michael Kaiser.

The overall objective of the GSFC is to contribute in the sustainability transformation of the financial services industry by providing an international forum for key stakeholders from across the world to share knowledge and experiences and to work together for a strong, fair, safe and resilient financial services industry that works in harmony with the natural environment.

The conference covered a wide range of sustainable finance topics including, among others, greening the lending operations, innovations in financial inclusion and sustainable rural finance, trends and instruments of financing climate change mitigation and adaptation, financing SME start-ups for sustainable development, social dimension of sustainable finance and transparency for affordable finance. The programme also included a visit at the Fraunhofer Institute, one of the largest and most renown applied research facility in Germany.

The conference was also the occasion for the presentation of the Global Sustainable Finance Awards 2015 (please see related story) recognizing outstanding achievements of financial institutions around the world in sustainable project financing, innovative financial services and business sustainability.
