ADFIAP’s Asia-Pacific Institute of Development Finance (IDF), the association’s professional training, credentialing and career development center, conducted the “International Seminar-Workshop on Climate Finance Product Development” in Manila, Philippines on November 11-15, 2019. Five (5) participants from ADFIAP-member institutions in Palau and the Philippines attended the seminar.
The course objective was to introduce climate finance products and services that enable investments in new sectors with improved effectiveness, impact ad replicability, and transformation towards a low-carbon climate resilient economy.
The program, rated well by the participants, covered topics such as climate finance landscape and opportunities, climate finance fund, role of stakeholders and institutions, environmental and social risk appraisal of projects, financing modalities, and risk management of climate finance projects. To validate the learnings, the participants went on site visits to different climate-related projects of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Philippine Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), the Arthaland Century Pacific, and the Waste Energy Project in Payatas, Quezon City.
A team of experts from the ADFIAP Finance and Investment Center (AFIC), namely, Mr. Noel Verdote, Atty. Maria Teresita Lacerna, Ms. Marinela Cecilia Pascua, and Ms. Nanette Biazon were the main resource persons of the program. Other speakers included Mr. Ian Briones of Philippine Guarantee Corporation, Ms. Anita Salayon of the Development Bank of the Philippines, and Engr. Raymond Marquez of EconoServ.
