The Asia-Pacific Institute of Development Finance (IDF), ADFIAP’s professional career development and training center, conducted the “International Study Tour Program (STP) on Affordable Housing in the Philippines” on September 16-20, 2019 in Manila, Philippines. Six (6) participants from ADFIAP-member institutions in Palau, Tuvalu, and the Philippines attended the program.
The objective of the study program was to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants of affordable housing. The program was structured to provide the participants with relevant and practical perspectives by way of discussions and presentations of selected speakers, complemented with a site visits to affordable housing projects leading to a fuller understanding of the role of the policy and regulatory agencies play in the implementation and development of the affordable housing sector.
The resource persons include Mr. Marcelino Mendoza, Chairman of the Organization of Social Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP), Atty. Maria Teresita Lacerna, Legal Adviser, ADFIAP Finance and Investment Center (AFIC), and Engr. Ramon Aguilos, EDGE Director, Philippines Green Building Initiative (PGBI). The participants visited the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and Pag-Ibig for briefing and discussions on affordable housing in the Philippines. They also visited Pag-Ibig and Phinma’s socialized, economic and low-cost housing projects which were appreciated and rated well by the participants.
