The Asia-Pacific Institute of Development Finance (IDF) and the ADFIAP Consulting (AC) Group conducted a seminar-workshop on “Key Essentials for Loan Officers” on August 3 to 7, 2015 in Manila. The program was attended by eight (8) loan officers of ADFIAP member banks in Malaysia, Palau, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
The five-day program focused on the leveling up of skills of bank lending officers to make well-informed credit decisions through experiential learning, hands-on exercises and case studies. As such, they can go beyond being merely lenders but also act the role of a concerned and pro-active business partners. Topics covered included: roles and responsibilities of bank officers; soft skills vs. hard skills; attitude vs. skills; code of ethical standards for banks; communication excellence; presentation skills and gamification; time management productivity booster; creative problem solving and decision making; thinking out of the box and staying inside it; building skills that can turn divergence into opportunities; negotiation skills: creating win-win solutions; positive thinking: harnessing the power of optimism; confidence coaching to build self-esteem and self-belief; and establishing corporate culture.
