46th ADFIAP Annual Meetings, a tremendous success

More than two hundred and fifty (250) CEOs, board members, senior executives, and representatives of development finance institutions (DFIs), as well as high-level officers of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) members, partners, and guests, convened at the Rixos Hotel in Almaty, Kazakhstan from May 15-17, 2023 for the 46th ADFIAP Annual Meetings.

Themed, “DFIs and Sustainable Infrastructure: Operating Models and Methods”, the event was designed to facilitate an insightful, engaging, focused, and timely exchange of ideas, strategies, experiences, and practices in the development finance as the Asia-Pacific region prepares for the growing needs and opportunities in the context of sustainable infrastructures.

Gracing the occasion were Mr. Jerulan Jamaubayev, Deputy Prime Minister-Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr. Erbolat Dossayev, Mayor of Almaty City, who delivered the keynote addresses. Mr. Mominul Islam, ADFIAP Acting Chairman, Managing Director & CEO, IPDC Finance Ltd. Bangladesh opened the conference; while the Chairman of the Management Board of Eurasian Development Bank, Mr. Nikolai Podguzov formally welcomed the participants.

The speakers had the chance to share their initiatives on topics that revolved around the theme, i.e., Digital Infrastructure; Water, Energy, and Communal Infrastructure; Transport & Logistics including Food and Agriculture-Related Infrastructure; and Finance Infrastructure. It also featured a Special Interest Session (SIS) and Investment Interest Session where the participants learned from these multilateral organizations’ speakers what possible support/assistance might be expected and available from them.

Other highlights of the Annual Meetings were the 94th Board of Directors Meeting, the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the General Assembly, the Delegate-Meets-Delegate Networking Session, the ADFIAP Sustainable Development Awards Night, and the fellowship program, where the delegates were taken to a city sightseeing tour including the Kok Tobe Mountain. Almaty is a fascinating and dynamic city that is well worth a visit for anyone interested in exploring the culture and history of Kazakhstan.

The 46th ADFIAP Annual Meeting was hosted by The Eurasian Development Bank, an international development finance institution investing in the development of the economies, trade and other economic ties, and integration in Eurasian countries. The EDB was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The 47th ADFIAP Annual Meetings which everybody is looking forward to will be held in Phnom Phen, Cambodia on May 14, 15, and 16, 2024 to be hosted by the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB). More information on this will be announced in due course.
