Makati City – February 12, 2026 – The Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) concluded a high-level strategic visit to the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), reinforcing a shared commitment to resilient, sustainable development finance in the region.
The ADFIAP delegation was led by Secretary General Enrique Florencio, with key members of the Secretariat’s leadership team: John Alianza (Head of Business Development & Partnerships), Sandra Honrado (Head of Membership & International Relations), and George Aquino (Head of Finance & HR).
The visit facilitated a productive dialogue on the evolving role of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) amidst a complex global landscape. The discussions highlighted JBIC’s pivotal leadership across four critical pillars: Economic Security, Innovation and Start-ups, Sustainability and Green Finance, and Global Partnerships.
In a statement following the visit, Secretary General Florencio commended JBIC’s strategic foresight.
“We were especially encouraged by JBIC’s strong leadership across key pillars shaping the future of development finance,” Florencio stated. “Your work in Economic Security continues to set a benchmark for resilience… while your sustained efforts in Sustainability and Green Finance resonate deeply with ADFIAP’s mission.”
Strengthening Regional Integration
Hiroshi Sagawa, Chief Representative of JBIC’s Representative Office in Manila, welcomed the delegation and expressed strong optimism about the alignment between the two organizations.
“I was genuinely thrilled to realize that JBIC and ADFIAP share numerous common goals and directions,” Sagawa remarked. “It was heartening to recognize the many ways we can contribute and collaborate.”
Looking ahead, JBIC affirmed its active engagement in the upcoming 49th ADFIAP Annual Meetings, scheduled for May 20-22, 2026, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Sagawa confirmed his participation and will join Session 2 on Regional Integration as a panelist. This involvement underscores JBIC’s dedication to sharing insights and furthering collaboration within the DFI community.
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to build on the momentum generated by the visit and advance initiatives that drive technological innovation, climate action, and entrepreneurship for the benefit of member institutions and the broader region.
