ADFIAP conducts development banking seminar for DBP MAP trainees

dbp-mapOn invitation by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, conducted a one-day seminar on development banking for the Bank’s Management Associates Program’s (MAP) 24 participants on November 8, 2016 at the DBP Training Centre in Makati City, Philippines.

The MAP, winner of ADFIAP Award’s outstanding human resource project in 2008, is a recruitment and development program of DBP that aims to harness a critical mass of high potential people into the Bank by attracting, hiring and training the best university graduates all over the country. The training curriculum combines the development of technical, managerial as well as behavioural skills covering all critical areas of banking. Other innovative features of the program include using the practical experience and expertise of the Bank’s corps of officers as part of the program’s faculty in addition to external resource persons, and ultimately assigning the program’s graduates to their respective regions of origin to better understand and meet the needs of their constituencies.

The development banking training course conducted by ADFIAP consisted of five (5) modules covering the topics on “Development Banking & Sustainable Development”, “Development Banks: Evolution, Tasks & Models”, “Development Banks vis-à-vis Commercial Banks”, “The Project Cycle” and “Appraisal of Development Projects”.
