ADFIAP, EU project partner hold HEMS workshops for DBP, PNB

HEMSADFIAP, in collaboration with the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE), conducted two one-day workshops on “Technical and Financial Training on High Efficiency Motors (HEMS) and Energy Efficiency” on July 15, 2016 and July 20, 2015 at the Development Bank of the Philippines(DBP) and Philippine National Bank (PNB), respectively,

The HEMS project is funded by the European Commission’s SWITCH-Asia Program, promoting the use of and conversion into high-efficiency motors and drive systems in the different Philippine industries. This 4-year project is led by IIEE in partnership with the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation, Inc. (ASSIST), the Association Action for Sustainable Development (ASD), the International Copper Association Southeast Asia (ICASEA) and ADFIAP.

ADFIAP, as an implementing partner in this project, is tasked to do capacity building for government DFIs and commercial banks to evaluate HEMS investments and for these banks to facilitate access to financing for electric motors-intensive industries and ESCOs (energy service companies).

The DBP training was attended by Project Development Officer (PDOs) and Account Officers (AOs) from the Financial, Infrastructure, Environmental and Logistics Development (FIELD), Financing Inclusive Development (FIND), Integrated Services Department (ISD), Industrial Guarantee and Loan Fund (IGLF) and Small and Medium Investment and Loan for Entrepreneurs (SMILE), Middle Market and Credit and Appraisal Management Department. Some officers from the Property and Services Management, a department in charge of the bank building and premises, also attended to learn how HEMS can help the bank in terms of energy efficiency and the savings it will generate.

The PNB workshop was attended by Business Center Heads, Relationship Managers, Program Managers, Deal Managers and Account Officers from all over the PNB regional offices and branches.

The resource persons of the two workshops consisted of Engr. Marvin Ryan G. Bathan of IIEE, Project Manager of SWITCH-HEMS project, Engr. Raymond Marquez, consultant of the HEMS project, Ms. Arlene Orencia, Head, Projects and Programs, ADFIAP Consulting, Atty. Alberto B. Reyno, Managing Principal, ADFIAP Consulting. Other representatives of ADFIAP were Ms. Corazon D. Conde, Group Head, ADFIAP Consulting and Ms. Ma. Cristina T. Aquino, Head, Business Dev., ADFIAP Consulting.
