ADFIAP holds 4th seminar on performance standards for DFIs

kpi cambodiaADFIAP’s Institute of Development Finance (IDF) conducted its 4th Seminar on “Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Development Financial Institutions” on November 16, 2010 in Siem Reap, Cambodia as a pre-event of the CEO Forum VII (please see related story). The seminar was attended by 16 participants, mostly CEOs, senior officers and board directors of ADFIAP member-institutions.

The seminar’s objective was to bring out the importance of KPIs in the governance process, especially among DFIs and their stakeholders which is in step with ADFIAP’s advocacy in business ethics and integrity. DFIs are accountable in meeting the Government’s development targets and for efficiently using capital and other resources entrusted to them. While DFIs varied across countries, this seminar showed that a common set of KPIs can measure and evaluate their contributions. This was attested by the set of KPIs developed by ADFIAP which could be used by DFIs and their funders and regulators in measuring their performance standards.

Among the topics covered during the seminar included understanding the basics of KPIs; accountability and sustainability performance under good governance; economic, financial and environmental KPIs; and ADFIAP’s recently-developed KPI manual for DFIs. Dr. Cesar Saldaña, President of PSR Consulting, was the main resource person of the seminar.
