Bali, Indonesia, November 6, 2024—The Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) successfully concluded its International CEO Forum XVII on November 6-8, 2024, on the picturesque island of Bali, Indonesia. The event gathered over 180 top executives, decision-makers, and key stakeholders from 50 Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) across 23 countries to discuss critical topics and explore collaboration opportunities to advance the low-carbon development agenda. Hosted by PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero), the forum aimed to foster meaningful connections, promote collaboration, and explore innovative approaches to achieving sustainable development goals by providing an avenue for insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking.

Welcome and Opening Remarks

Mr. Reynaldi Hermansjah, President and Director of PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur, welcomed attendees by emphasizing the forum’s focus on sustainable development. With the theme “Building a Sustainable Future,” he highlighted the critical role of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) in advancing green investments and supporting Indonesia’s climate and equity goals, particularly through renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure in underserved areas.

Dr. Kao Thach, ADFIAP Chairman and CEO of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank, echoed this message, praising PT SMI’s efforts toward Indonesia’s 2060 net-zero target. He encouraged participants to collaborate on energy transition, digital finance, and resilient infrastructure, aiming for impactful partnerships that drive low-carbon growth and sustainable development across Asia-Pacific.

Keynote Address

Mr. Rionald Silaban, Director General of State Assets Management, Ministry of Finance of Indonesia, addressed the ADFIAP Forum, highlighting the critical need for sustainable financing amidst climate change challenges. He spoke on Indonesia’s transformation plan for PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero), which aims to strengthen public sector financing and support regional development. PT SMI’s focus on green projects aligns with global sustainability goals. Mr. Zaban called for continued collaboration to address regional challenges and promote sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific.

This year’s forum focused on “Building a Sustainable Future: The Crucial Role of DFIs in a Low Carbon Development Agenda.” The three-day event featured insightful keynote addresses, panel discussions, and networking sessions, exploring the vital role of development finance institutions (DFIs) in driving sustainable development and mitigating climate change.

The ADFIAP International CEO Forum XVII achieved remarkable results, providing top executives from ADFIAP member institutions an opportunity to share experiences and best practices in sustainable development, focusing on the role of DFIs in advancing the low-carbon development agenda. Additionally, ADFIAP members strengthened cooperation among DFIs, governments, international organizations, and the private sector to address global challenges, including climate change, energy transition, and sustainable development.
