ADFIAP Joins UN Advisory Group on Cooperation Dialogue

With ADFIAP’s participation last November 2006 in one of the meetings of the Marrakech Process in Wuppertal, Germany, the Association represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, has been invited to join the Advisory Committee on Cooperation Dialogue by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

Together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the UNDESA, a s a response the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2002, is pursuing the development of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (the so-called Marrakech Process).

Recognising the important role of development agencies such as ADFIAP, a Cooperation Dialogue has been initiated between development agencies and sustainable consumption and production (SCP) experts. It aims at building better cooperation in implementing development projects that promote SCP while also contributing to poverty reduction.

The 3rd International Experts Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production, including meetings of the Marrakech Process working groups, will be hosted by the Government of Sweden and will be held in Stockholm from June 26 to 29, 2007.
