ADFIAP participates in EU regional event on energy efficiency

As one of the implementing partners of the EU-funded SWITCH Asia Project on High Efficiency Motors (EU-HEMs), ADFIAP participated in a regional workshop organized by the project team in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE) on March 29 and 30, 2017 at the Diplomatic Hall, Grand Ballroom, Marriott Hotel Manila at the Resorts World Manila, Newport City, Pasay City, Philippines.

The two-day event featured a regional workshop on energy efficiency on the first day and the launching on the second day of EU Switch-Asia programme booklets and public consultations on minimum energy performance (MEP) and the Philippine energy standards and labeling program- implementing guidelines (PESLP-IG).

The event was meant to share ASEAN knowledge, experiences and best practices on energy efficiency and on designing and implementing the minimum energy performance standards in the commercial and industrial sectors, among others. The event was also aimed at raising the banks’ awareness on the role of energy-saving companies (ESCOs) and the ESCO concept as an alternative financing in the implementation of the HEMs project.

The EU-HEMs is a four-year grant project of the European Union to accelerate the uptake of more efficient electric motors and drive systems in Philippine industries since electric motors account for 60-70% of electricity consumption of this sector.

ADFIAP’s role in the project is to help banks and financial institutions through capacity-building and training programs that aim to strengthen their knowledge on evaluating HEMs investments. ADFIAP was represented by the ADFIAP Consulting namely, Atty. Alberto B. Reyno, Managing Principal, Ms. Arlene S. Orencia, Head-Projects & Programs, and Ms. Ma. Cristina T. Aquino, Head-Business Development.
