ADFIAP sets its 34th Annual Meetings programme agenda

The ADFIAP’s 34th Annual Meetings this year will be on April 20 to 23, 2011 and will have for its theme, “ Responding to Global Issues & Trends: The Strategic Role, Resources and Relationships of National Development Finance Institutions”. This year’s big event’s 4-day programme agenda is packed with learning, networking, advocacy and awarding sessions. Over a hundred delegates from ADFIAP members, invited guests, and partner-organizations are expected to attend the event.

Two outreach programs called, “CSR sessions”, will be held on the first day to provide the local chamber of commerce and university graduate students with the members’ experiences on financing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurship development programs, respectively. Completing the first day programme are the 73rd Board of Directors meeting, the 19th General Assembly meeting with a special ADFIAP-GCEL session on SME prosperity and finance and the welcome dinner and awards night.

For the second and third day, four plenary sessions are set for technical discussions covering the conference theme. Plenary Session 1 on visioning the strategic role of DFIs, panelists will tackle topics such as SME development and innovative financing mechanisms, new businesses for a clean environment, and trade diversification toward sustainable economic growth. Plenary Session 2 on working with the private sector for financing strategic economic sectors, speakers will deal with topics like market and regulatory risk issues and challenges in public-private partnership (PPP), legal, regulatory and policy aspects of PPP, and the financing models and best practices of PPP. Plenary Session 3 on building the strategic positioning of DFIs, CEOs will discuss the role of DFIs as strategic partners for national development and as development vehicles of multilateral and bilateral financial institutions. Plenary Session 4 will sum up all the topics and issues discussed during the whole conference by the drafting an “Action Agenda”.

Other highlights of the event are the Delegate-Meets-Delegate Session in the afternoon of Day 1, cultural tours in the afternoons of Days 2 and 3 and the fellowship day and tour on Day 4.
