ADFIAP shares members green finance initiatives at Iskandar Malaysia forum

Iskandar forumOn invitation by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, spoke and presented the Association’s work and advocacy on green finance and highlighted ADFIAP members’ lending facilities for environmental projects.

The event held on December 11, 2014 in Johor Bahru, the capital city of Johor in southern Malaysia and located north of Singapore, was themed, “Green Initiatives and Financing towards Sustainable Development in Iskandar Malaysia” and was attended by about 50 participants from policy and regulatory agencies, private sector companies and property developers.

IRDA is currently working on rolling out Iskandar Malaysia’s Comprehensive Development Plan II (CDP 2013-2025) and one of its priority areas is to green nine promoted economic sectors and growing the economy to be more sustainable along a low emission pathway to achieve green growth of its economy. As an initial step, the one-day forum was aimed at raising awareness on the CDP II, promoting green economy, green initiatives and concomitant support mechanisms as well as highlighting opportunities and support from government and the financial sector in Malaysia.

Iskandar Malaysia, established on November 8, 2006 and formerly known as Iskandar Development Region and South Johor Economic Region, is the main southern development corridor in Johor. The project is administered by IRDA and was named after the late Sultan of Johor, Almarhu Sutan Iskandar. IRDA https://www.irda.com.my/ is a Malaysian Federal Government statutory body tasked with regulating and driving various stakeholders in both public and private sectors towards realizing the vision of developing Iskandar Malaysia into a strong and sustainable metropolis of international standing.
