ADFIAP speaks at IDB Forum

On invitation of the Inter American Development Bank (IDB). ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, spoke about the key issues and challenges of development finance institutions (DFIs) in Asia and the Pacific as well as current and future opportunities for DFIs to pursue such as green banking, MSME finance, rural finance, etc.

The forum, jointly organized by IDB and ALIDE, the regional DFI association in Latin America and the Caribbean, was held on September 22, 2011 at the Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. Over 30 participants, mostly CEOs and senior officers of Latin American DFIs and associations, participated in the event with the theme, “Challenges and Opportunities for Public Development Banks”. Other presentations included case studies on financing for housing, renewable energy, SME consulting, innovation promotion, infrastructure, agriculture, guarantee fund, microfinance and related areas.

The forum was opened by Ms. Julie Katzman, IDB Executive Vice President, Mr. Kurt Focke, IDB Chief of Capital Markets and Financial Institutions and Mr. Rodrigo Sanchez Mujica, FIRA Mexico Director General and present ALIDE President. Mr. Fernando de Olloqui, IDB Lead Specialist of financial markets, acted as the forum director and moderator.
