Makati City, Philippines (February 6, 2025) – The Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) and the LandBank of the Philippines (LBP) recently held a meeting to discuss the next steps in implementing the ABANX core banking system for LBP’s financial institution (FI) clients. This partnership marks an important milestone in modernizing banking services among FIs across the Philippines.
The ADFIAPNET ABANX core banking system aims to lower the costs of upgrading and maintaining a core banking platform while improving operational efficiency and meeting the increasing demand for digital financial services. The system aims to provide LBP’s FI clients with faster, more efficient, and secure banking solutions.
During the meeting, LBP presented the results of a comprehensive survey conducted to assess the readiness of its FI clients for digitization. The survey evaluated key areas, including the current level of digitization in clients’ operations, their access to technology, and their willingness to adopt digital banking solutions. The findings revealed a strong need among LBP’s FI clients to modernize and digitize their operations, highlighting the importance of providing accessible and user-friendly digital banking tools to support their transition.
“The survey insights are crucial for ensuring a smooth and inclusive transition to digital banking,” said Mr. Eden Japitana, FVP and Head of LBP’s Lending Program Management Group. Mr. Enrique I. Florencio, ADFIAP Secretary General, emphasized the initiative’s impact, calling it a “game-changer” that sets a benchmark for digital banking adoption among financial institutions in the Philippines.
With the combined efforts of ADFIAP and the Land Bank of the Philippines, the future of digital banking in the country is poised to become more inclusive, efficient, and resilient.
