The General Assembly (GA) has conferred Honorary Membership to Mr. Nihal Fonseka for serving the Association as Board of Director from 2002 to 2009 representing DFCC Bank, and as Chairman of the ADFIAP Board from 2010 to 2012.

Mr. Fonseka served the DFCC Bank as its Chief Executive Officer/Director from 2000 to 2013 and also served as Chairman of several companies under the DFCC Group of Companies during that period. He also served as Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange from 2006 to 2011 and became a Member of Sri Lanka’s Presidential Commission on Taxation in 2009. Mr. Fonseka was the recipient of ADFIAP’s Outstanding CEO of the Year Award in 2006. During his term as ADFIAP Chairman, he emphasized the importance of partnerships for sustainable development as well as a strong commitment to sustainability. Mr. Fonseka graduated from the University of Ceylon in Colombo, Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Studies (Chartered Institute of Bankers), United Kingdom.
