DBJamaica invites SMEs to participate in energy project

The Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) has received a grant of US$ 593,000 from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to promote energy efficiency, energy conservation, and investment in renewable energy in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) operating in Jamaica.

The project comprises three components covering an assessment of the demand for investments in energy efficiency and conservation measures and alternative sources of energy in SMEs in Jamaica; the development of a local training and certification course for energy auditors and energy managers, which is being done in collaboration with the University of Technology; and the development and implementation of demonstration projects that showcase the successful use of alternative energy and highlight the benefits of energy efficiency and conservation strategies within the SME sector.

SMEs will be selected for participation in the project on the basis of location, sector/industry, and their annual turnover. After selection, the businesses will be outfitted with energy-saving devices and equipment.
