The Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), Cambodia’s leading agricultural bank, and the Guangxi Academy of Sciences (GXAAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 24, 2024, in Nanning, Guangxi Province. The partnership aims to boost agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and exports, particularly to China.
ARDB Director General Kao Thach witnessed the signing and expressed confidence in the collaboration’s potential to benefit Cambodian farmers and drive the nation’s agricultural growth. He highlighted the importance of introducing advanced technologies to modernize the sector.
GXAAS representatives praised ARDB’s efforts to improve Cambodia’s agriculture, emphasizing the mutual benefits of the partnership.
In 2023, Cambodia exported 8.4 million tons of agricultural products, generating $4.3 billion in revenue. Key exports included rice, bananas, mangoes, and cashew nuts. Agriculture remains a crucial pillar of Cambodia’s economy, contributing 24.4% to the country’s GDP in 2021. China, Vietnam, and Thailand are the major importers of Cambodian agricultural goods.
