BEDB boosts commercialization of village products

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) has launched a new initiative called “The Village Enterprise Financing Scheme” aimed at providing financial assistance to villagers specifically to increase productivity and commercialization of their village products such as machinery upgrade, automation and galleria.

One such product that has been identified as having the potential to be commercialized is the virgin coconut oil (VCO) produced by the Mukim Tanjong Maya Consultative Council, under the One Village One Product initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs. VCO is a vital commodity in some pharmaceutical and beauty products and is traditionally used by women to enhance facial and skin tone.

Last year, the Council trained 40 village entrepreneurs on the manufacturing process of virgin coconut oil products. the creation of other by-products such as soaps and creams.
