BSN implements financial inclusion program

The first phase of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) payments to 8.7 million people in the B40 group will be credited into registered recipients’ accounts in stages beginning today (Tuesday), according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Recipients who do not have a bank account can cash out the payment at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches beginning today (Tuesday).

He noted that the STR phase one payment has been shifted from March to January to decrease people’s cost of living burden. The STR payment was divided into three categories: four million households received RM300, 1.2 million senior citizens without spouses received RM100, and 3.5 million single people received RM100.

This payment will also be given to STR recipients in remote areas, such as Sabah and Sarawak, who have or do not have bank accounts. Anwar is also the Minister of Finance. Recipients will be able to check their status beginning tomorrow (Tuesday), and further information regarding the payment is available in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of the STR’s official website.
