ADFIAP attends SMART Myanmar 2 planning meeting

myanmarAs partner of the EU Switch Asia project, SMEs for Accountability, Responsibility and Transparency (SMART) Myanmar 2 funded by the European Union, ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, attended the annual partners’ planning and steering committee meetings in Yangon, Myanmar. Apart from achievements report of the project, the occasion was also a time to review, plan strategically ahead and work on the budget for 2017.

The objective of the 4-year project (2016-2019) is to promote and support the sustainable production of garments “Made in Myanmar” and to increase the competitiveness of SMEs in the Myanmar garment sector. The project aims to scale-up and institutionalize successful practices which were developed and implemented during SMART Myanmar’s first phase from 2013-2015.

The lead implementing partner of the project is Germany’s sequa gGmbH and the other partners aside from ADFIAP are the Netherlands’ Made-by.org, Germany’s Foreign Trade Association of German Retail Trade (AVE) and the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association.
