ADFIAP co-host World Development Finance Forum 2021

ADFIAP along with its international partners co-hosted the World Development Finance Forum 2021 via virtual on December 3, 2021 – a global gathering of financial sector players. The Forum brought together high-level delegates, including ministers, governors, and deputy governors of central banks, senior policymakers, regulators, and the leadership of national DFIs and other national financial institutions committed to the national sustainable development agendas of their countries.

This international gathering of leaders from about 50 countries examined cutting-edge solutions for financing the post-pandemic economy and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Forum’s theme “Discover the Game-Changing Solutions to Finance a Sustainable Post-Pandemic Future” included the unveiling of the state-of-the-art and landmark Financing 4.0 and RISE Programs.

Financing 4.0 delivers a comprehensive solution to mobilize and deploy capital at scale to close the funding gap and invest financial resources for boosting sustainable economic development and fund the 4th industrial revolution. It is initially being launched in 3 countries and then expand in other regions.

The ground-breaking RISE (Reshaping Industry for a Sustainable Economy) Program aims to make sustainable industrialization a reality across the globe. It opens an exciting opportunity for financial institutions, especially the DFIs, to generate new income streams by financing the transition to a new economy, which is green, digital, inclusive, and green.

During the 2-day international forum, the national financial institutions, including two DFIs, shared their experiences of becoming Sustainability Certified Development Finance Institutions. The sustainability standards were developed in Germany after years of consultations with all the stakeholders from around the world and after comprehensive review and assessment by the International Council of Sustainability Standards and Certification formed for this purpose.

ADFIAP Vice-Chair and CEO of Fiji Development Bank Mr. Saud Minam graced the occasions and welcomed participants of the forum. Watch it on ADFIAP Dev Talks.
