ADFIAP’s Institute of Development Finance (IDF) and the ADFIAP Finance and Investment Center (AFIC) collaborated to hold a webinar on “Advancing Sustainability with Environmental and Social Risk Management” on July 29, 2020 to engage ADFIAP members and other financial institutions in identifying, assessing and managing environmental and social (E&S) risks and impacts in its investment and lending operations, as well as in identifying other sustainable finance opportunities in a structured way on an continuing basis. A total of 84 participants from ADFIAP members and various banks across the region attended the virtual event.

AFIC’s Marinela Cecilia T. Pascua was the featured speaker while Albab Akanda served as a guest speaker. Ms. Pascua has over 30 years of professional experience with public and private sectors on environmental and social policy, plans and program development and implementation, standards setting, and environmental and social assessment. She held previous positions in international development financing institutions, notably as project team lead and focal point for the Philippines under the IFC East Asia Pacific E&S Risk Management (ESRM) for FIs program. Mr. Albab has a 35-year international development career covering the World Bank, IMF, and the ADB, where he spent over 22 years, his last position as Head, Operations Coordination, Private Sector Department.
