ADFIAP-IDF conducts webinar on Climate Finance: Risks and Opportunities

ADFIAP’s Institute of Development Finance, in collaboration with the Agence Francaise de Developpement or the French Development Agency, conducts a webinar on “Climate Finance: Risks and Opportunities” on June 6-9, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Philippine Time. This is the second of the four series of the training program offered under the ADFIAP-AFD Sustainable Finance Program to pursue a knowledge and opportunity exchange in mobilizing and supporting ADFIAP members and other financial institutions to redirect their financial flows towards the green transition. The first webinar entitled “Risk-Based Approach to Sustainable Finance” was held on May 23-26, 2022 ( https://www.www.adfiap.org/news/association-news/adfiap-conducts-webinar-on-risk-based-approach-to-sustainable-finance/).

The webinar “Climate Finance: Risks and Opportunities” was facilitated by the ADFIAP Finance and Investment Center (AFIC) headed by Ms. Nanette Biason. The training program aims to enhance the technical capacities of the participants in evaluating projects for climate-related financial risks and opportunities in addressing the needs of financial institutions to incorporate climate in their lending project evaluation as well as in ESG policy direction and resource mobilization.

Topics like Understanding Sustainable Finance and Climate Actions, Climate-related Financial Risks, Financing Opportunities for Climate Action, Unlocking Access to Finance, and Climate Finance Initiatives, were tackled by invited speakers of different sustainable finance backgrounds. It includes Ms. Maria Teresita Lacerna, Legal Advisor and Lead-Sustainable Finance and Green Development of AFIC; Mr. Ramon Aguilos, EDGE Program Director, PGBI; Ms. Mirela Juravle, Amazon Web Services; Mr. Prudencio Calado III, AVP, Land Bank of the Philippines; Mr. Celso Gutierrez, SVP, Philippine Guarantee Corporation; Ms. Jo Ann Eala, VP and Head, Sustainability Office, Bank of the Philippines Islands; Dr. R.K. Singh, Chief General Manager, Small Industries Development Bank of India; Mr. Emmanuel Herbosa, President & CEO, Development Bank of the Philippines; Ms. Mariana Deheza, Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD); Ms. Lany Harijanti, Regional Program Manager, Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI); Mr. Kaushi Liyanage, Climate Investment Specialist, IFC.

Twenty one (21) participants from ADFIAP-member and non-member banks in the Cook Islands, Fiji, Malaysia, Philippines, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vietnam participated in the program. The program was rated high by the participants.
