ADFIAP invited to UN ESCAP regional seminar on climate finance

On invitation by the United Nations Economic and Social commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Mr. Octavio B. Peralta and Ms. Corazon D. Conde, ADFIAP Secretary General and Group Head of ADFIAP Consulting, respectively, attended and made presentations at the “Regional Seminar on Innovative Climate Finance Instruments for Financial Institutions” held on June 19 to 20, 2017 at United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand. Over 30 participants shared good practices and success stories on the development and implementation of policies and financial instruments supporting investments in low-carbon climate-resilient development.

The seminar is part of ESCAP’s 3-year regional project that is providing technical and advisory services to national financial institutions in 5 beneficiary countries, namely, Fiji, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Philippines for the development of innovative climate finance instruments and for up-scaling national investments in low-carbon climate-resilient development. The event presented the national scoping studies in all beneficiary countries conducted to map out the landscape of national climate finance architecture as well as to identify on-going climate finance initiatives and existing incentives for low-carbon investments, and the priority areas for interventions.

The seminar was opened by Mr. Kaveh Zahedi, Deputy Executive Secretary of ESCAP and by Ms. Dechen Tsering, Regional Director and Representative for Asia and the Pacific of the UN Environment Asia and the Pacific Office.
