ADFIAP, partners hold sustainable finance forum

ADFIAP in collaboration with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP), the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) held the “Sustainable Finance Forum: Financing the SDGs in Southeast Asia”, on October 14, 2020 at 9:00 am to 12:00 nn (GMT+7). The Forum was attended by over 230 participants worldwide.

The consortium partners are supporting banks in Southeast Asia and the greater Asia-Pacific region through knowledge sharing and capacity-building workshops. The Forum was aimed at executives and representatives of banks, intergovernmental organizations, governments and financial institutions committed to the success of sustainable finance in Southeast Asia. The event was also an occasion to launch the webinar series themed, “Sustainable Finance Training Roadmap for Banks” which will run nine (9) webinars covering various topics that will start on October 20, 2020 and every Tuesday thereafter. ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, spoke on “Sustainable Finance & Development Finance Institutions: The ADFIAP Journey to Greening DFIs” which highlighted the programs and activities ADFIAP has accomplished since Year 2000 when it started its “Greening of DFIs” Initiative as well as the sustainable finance lending facilities of its members.

ADFIAP was also represented in the Forum’s “Fire Chat” panel discussion themed, “Road to Sustainable Recovery: Is Sustainable Finance the answer?” by Ms. Cora Conde, Head of the ADFIAP Consulting Group, where she elaborated on the role of ADFIAP and its members in sustainable finance, specifically on what development banks have been doing in the sustainable finance space, how they create a project pipeline that can be commercially-viable for the private banks, and what can commercial banks do to increase bankable green project pipelines.
