ADFIAP speaks at Fiji regional forum

ADFIAP represented by its Deputy Secretary General, Norman A. Tilos, spoke at the Fiji regional forum on “Developing Pacific Local Food and Fisheries Value Chains – Key Innovation and Critical Success Factors” held in Suva on May 7-10, 2018.

Mr. Tilos presented “Fintech opportunities for MSMEs within the Agricultural Value Chains”. Using the example of Acudeen, a fintech company based in the Philippines, he stressed that Fintech companies can reach out to small holders in agriculture which otherwise would have not been served by banks.

The Fiji forum was organized within the framework of the multi-country project, ‘Promoting Nutritious Food Systems in the Pacific Islands’ which is co-funded by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and implemented in partnership with the Pacific Islands Private sector Organisation (PIPSO).

More than a hundred agri-entrepreneurs, bankers, community and farmer leaders, civil society organization representatives, public officials and researchers from Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu attended the event.
