ADFIAP visits CIPE, exchanges cooperation ideas

While on mission in Washington, D.C., ADFIAP Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, visited the headquarters of the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) which is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and a non-profit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Peralta met with John Morrell Regional Director for Asia, Anna Kompanek, Director for Multiregional Programs and Kim Bettcher, Senior Knowledge Manager. The visit provided new insights into the current thrusts of CIPE as well as new ideas for potential cooperation, in particular on strengthening advocacy work of associations.

ADFIAP and CIPE has had a long and continuing work and advocacy relationship that begun in 2002 when ADFIAP received a grant from CIPE for its “DFIs for Corporate Governance” project. Starting in 2002 with the development of DFI governance code and policy statements, the 5-phase project that run from 2002 to 2008, resulted in many conferences, forums and seminars organized and published resources such as the corporate governance rating system, the compliance officership programme, the governance and sustainable development program, and the improvement of risk management and financial disclosure systems under a good corporate governance framework.

Since 1983, CIPE https://www.cipe.org/ has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, business advocacy, democratic governance, and anti-corruption and ethics.
