ADFIAP’s IDF conducts seminar on appraisal of investment projects

The Asia-Pacific Institute of Development Finance (IDF), ADFIAP’s professional training and career development center, conducted the “10th International Seminar-Workshop on Financial and Economic Appraisal of Investment Projects” (FEAIP) on February 19-23, 2018 in Manila, Philippines.

The program, attended by participants from the Republic of Palau, Samoa, the Philippines, and the Netherlands, covered the different aspects of an investment design, how the financial and economic aspects fit into the overall investment plan submitted by a client, as well as the difference in appraisal techniques between purely private-oriented investments and development projects. Other topics discussed included: project management process (design, implementation and operation, evaluation); aspects of a project design (technical, economic, and others) and how are they interrelated; role of banks in project designing and appraisal; measures of financial and economic feasibilities; computation of NPV, BCR, and IRR; loan packaging; opportunity cost of a bank; macro environment of projects; national parameters; demand analysis; beyond the financial and economic IRR; and, conducting sensitivity analysis.

The resource person of the seminar was Dr. Alberto Pena, Associate Director of the International Studies and Programs at the Illinois State University (ISU).
