ADFIAP Consulting (AC) in collaboration with a Philippine telecom company, Eastern Communications/EStorm, conducted a forum on “ Globally Operationalizing Financial Inclusion in a Sustainable and Green Way” on October 29, 2010 at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu in Central Philippines for the SMART Cebu Business Membership Organizations (BMOs), Board of Directors and technical staff of the three (3) target industry associations namely, the Gift, Toys and Housewares (GTH), Fashion Accessories Manufacturers and Exporters (FAME) and the Cebu Furniture Industry Foundation (CFIF). A total of 22 participants attended the forum.
The forum featured ADFIAP’s project implementation framework under the SMART Cebu project highlighting its work plan in facilitating Cebu SMEs’ access to finance and other services it can offer to assist the Cebu BMOs through the “power of partnership”. ADFIAP is part of the consortium of organizations undertaking the SMART Cebu project under a grant of the European Commission’s SWITCH Asia programme. Other partners include SEQUA and NfW of Germany, and the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP).
AC presented its proposed plan to provide the training and technical assistance requirements of the Cebu BMOs/SMEs and to establish linkages/partnerships with financial institutions (FIs) to leading to the development of financial products and services to SMEs. AC also presented other services it can offer to assist the Cebu BMOs in the implementation of their respective roles in the SMART Cebu project.
Ms. Corazon Conde, AC Head and SMART Cebu SCP Project Manager, Ms. Cecilia M. Ibarra, Head, AC Advocacy and Training Unit and SMART Cebu SCP Desk Officer and Ms. Arlene Orencia, Head, AC Projects and Programs represented ADFIAP in the forum. Mr. Edwin Domingo, Marketing Head of Eastern Communications explained the mechanics of their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) product and Mr. Scott Sproule, Director of EStorm, demonstrated its use.
