ADFIAP attends VEB.RF online conference on “From Pandemic to Recovery”

On the invitation by its Russian member, VEB.RF, ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, attended and served as a panellist in the online conference themed, “From Pandemic to Recovery: The Role of Development Banks” held on September 9, 2020 from14.00 – 16.45 (Moscow time). The high-level virtual event is aligned with the International Development Finance Club’s (IDFC) “Finance in Common” Summit that will take place in Paris in November.

For the opening session, the distinguished speakers on video were Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres and OECD Secretary General Ángel Gurría as well as live on virtual Mr. Bandar Hajjar, Head of the Chairs of MDBs for 2020 and President of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), Mr. Rémy Rioux, IDFC Chairperson, Chief Executive Officer of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Mr. Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of VEB.RF.

There were two panel discussions: (1) on infrastructure vulnerability during the Covid-19 outbreak: assessment, policy responses, and the outlook for long-term recovery and (2) SMEs support policies – sustainable development as a core of a new normality. The closing session was on perspectives for the future.

In the infrastructure session, Mr. Peralta joined distinguished panellists Ms. Marie Lam-Frendo, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Infrastructure Hub, Mr. Marcos Troyjo, President of the New Development Bank (NDB), Mr. Patrick Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), Mr. Stephen Groff, Governor of the National Development Fund of Saudi Arabia (NDF) and Mr. Rémy Rioux, IDFC Chairperson, Chief Executive Officer of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
