ASAE visit-1As part of its outreach and advocacy on association governance and leadership, ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, visited the Washington, D.C.-based American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) on October 10, 2013 and met with Mr. John H. Graham IV and Ms. Greta Kotler, President & CEO and Chief Global Development Officer, respectively, to seek support for the establishment of an ASAE-type national organization called the Philippine Council for the Advancement of Association Executives (PCAAE) and the inaugural Summit of Association Executives in Manila.

ASAE represents more than 21,000 association executives and industry partners representing 10,000 organizations. Its members manage leading trade associations, individual membership societies and voluntary organizations across the United States and in nearly 50 countries around the world. With support of the ASAE Foundation, a separate nonprofit entity, ASAE is the premier source of learning, knowledge and future-oriented research for the association and nonprofit profession, and provides resources, education, ideas and advocacy to enhance the power and performance of the association and nonprofit community.

ADFIAP believes that advocating for and strengthening the profession of association governance and management will redound to well-governed and well-managed business membership organizations such as chambers of commerce and industry, cooperatives and other non-profits, particularly with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) members that are clients of development banks. By providing assistance in the setting up of national ASAE-type associations in countries where ADFIAP has members, it expands its already widely-known advocacy on good governance and leadership in its own industry sphere and eco-system.
