ADFIAP, upon invitation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) participated in the Philippine-Japan Workshop on Economic Policies entitled “Finance in Development” held on December 12, 2014 at the New World Makati Hotel.
The workshop focused on the experience of the Philippines and Japan on inclusive growth. Distinguished policymakers and top researchers discussed policies on economic approaches as well as the impediment to high comprehensive advances in the Philippines towards inclusive growth. Dr. Shin-Ichi Fukuda, Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo discussed the topic “Finance and Investment (Cross Country Comparison and the Japanese Experience). Dr. Gilberto Llanto, President of the Philippines Institute for Development and Studies (PIDS) talked about “Financial Inclusion”. Mr. Noritaka Akamatsu, Deputy Head, Office of Regional Economic Integration and concurrently Chair of the Financial Sector Community of Practice, Asian Development Bank, discussed the topic “Capital Market Development in the Context of ASEAN Economic Integration. Dr. Aniceto Orbeta from the PIDS talked on “Remittance and Household Behaviour ((Consumption/Investment).
ADFIAP was represented by Ms. Cora Conde and Ms. Emy Chavez of the ADFIAP Consulting Group who shared information and experiences on the Association’s financial inclusion initiatives during the discussions that ensued after the presentations.
JICA is an agency of the government of Japan responsible for implementing Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).
